- Intro: Art and Culture Vocabulary.
Guess the word!
The teacher tells a definition and students must guest the word.
1. Play: a story that is written for actors to perform, usually in a theatre
2. Movie/Film: a story that is shown in moving pictures on a screen, usually at a cinema or on television.
3. Exhibition: a public display (eg of works of art, industrial goods etc).
4. Painting: a picture that someone has painted.
5. Literature: poems, novels, plays etc in verse or prose, especially if of fine quality
6. Artist: someone who makes art, especially paintings and drawings.
7. Singing: the art or activity of making musical sounds with one’s voice,
8. Dancing: the activity of moving your feet and body to the rhythm of music.
9. Author: someone who writes a book, article, etc or makes an artistic work.
10. Biography: the story of a person’s life written by another person.

What is the difference between a sketch and a detailed drawing?
What are strokes?
What is shading?

Answer the questionnaire:
- What does the artist work with?
- Where are his portraits shown?
- How does the artist create his portraits?
- Why does Xiaonan love portrait art?

Conversation:
- What kind of art you appreciate? Why?
- Have you gone to museums, galleries or other places where art is shown? Describe the place and experience.
- Do you have a favorite artist? Talk about him or her? / If you don't have a favorite artist, is there someone you admire because of his or her artistic skills? Explain why.
- Do you have an artistic skill? Which one? If you don't have one, which one would you like to have?
- Is art necessary in our life? Why? / Why not?
